1. You’ve built Girls Who Eat into a trusted wellness platform with 180k+ Instagram followers and 900k+ monthly Pinterest views, how did your health journey get you to where you are now?
After years of unexplained health struggles, I was finally diagnosed with a chronic illness in 2018 and it changed everything for me. That moment sparked my passion for clean and non-toxic living. I started paying closer attention to the ingredients in my food, products and made small, sustainable changes, like cutting out gums and additives in food products, switching to cleaner beauty and cleaning products, and filtering my water and air. Those shifts made a big difference. My energy improved, my digestion and gut issues were better for the first time in half a decade, and I had more mental clarity than I had in years. In 2019, I became a certified health coach, and later expanded my training as a functional supplement specialist. Along the way, I began sharing what I was learning, how to read labels, what to avoid, and which swaps actually make an impact.
That’s what led me to create Girls Who Eat, which has evolved into the go-to trusted resource for non-toxic living. My mission is simple: to make a non-toxic lifestyle feel approachable, not overwhelming. I want people to feel informed and empowered to make healthier choices, for themselves, their families, and their homes. Today, I’m so grateful to be able to support a growing community who are ready to live a healthier lifestyle, one step at a time.
2. What are your top 5 non-toxic beauty or skincare products? These are the products I reach for daily that are non-toxic, effective, and GWE-approved:
Akasha Skin Repair Mist - This has quickly become a staple in my routine. It’s soothing, hydrating, and helps support the skin barrier with prebiotics and perfect for refreshing your skin throughout the day.
Araza Makeup - I’m obsessed with Araza’s foundation and coconut cream concealer, they’re made with skin-loving, non-toxic ingredients and give a beautiful, natural finish without compromising performance
Mineral Sunscreen – This mineral sunscreen goes on silky smooth, doesn’t leave a white cast, and layers beautifully under makeup. Plus, the ingredients are gentle enough for sensitive skin like me.
Gua Sha/ Facial Cups – These are a staple in my lymphatic drainage routine. They help boost circulation, reduce puffiness, and give that natural glow without harsh tools or chemicals. I love to pair these with one of their serums.
Primally Pure Deodorant – Hands down the best natural deodorant I’ve tried and used for years. It actually works, comes in great scents, and skips the toxins found in most conventional deodorants like aluminum,
3. What are your summer essentials?
These are the non-negotiables I’ve been reaching for to feel good and stay balanced during the warmer months:
Daily Sun Time: I aim for 15–20 minutes of unprotected sun exposure each day to get natural vitamin D. It’s one of the simplest (and free!) ways to support mood, hormones, and immunity.
Hydration Boosters: Staying hydrated is key in the summer heat. I rotate between coconut water, watermelon water, and of course, lots of filtered water (currently loving my AquaTru for filtered sips all day) with minerals to get all of my electrolytes in.
Supplements: One of my go-tos this season are Akasha sea moss packets. They’re always stocked in my pantry and are packed with minerals that support immunity, energy, and overall wellness. Plus, they’re travel-friendly, which makes staying consistent super easy when I’m on the go.
Travel Must-Have: With lots of summer trips coming up, my CalPak Toiletry Case has been a total game changer. It keeps all my non-toxic beauty products organized, which makes packing way less stressful.
4. For someone just starting their health journey, what are some small sustainable steps to begin living a low tox lifestyle?
For someone just starting their health journey, it’s important to keep in mind that you don’t need to overhaul your life overnight. These small, intentional swaps can have a big impact over time and they’re totally doable even if you’re just starting out:
1. Read Ingredient Labels: Get into the habit of flipping over the package. Whether it's food, skincare, or cleaning products. Start to notice common red flag ingredients like“fragrance,” “natural flavors,” and unrecognizable chemicals. Use our free ingredient glossary to look up any ingredients you’re not sure about.
2. Invest in an Air Filter: Indoor air can be more polluted than outdoor air. A good-quality air purifier (like AirDoctor) can reduce allergens, VOCs, and toxins, especially helpful if you live in a city or have pets.
3. Upgrade Your Cookware: Ditch nonstick pans made with PFAS and opt for safer options like stainless steel, cast iron, or ceramic-coated. You use your pans daily, so this is a high-impact swap.
4. Filter Your Water: Clean water is foundational and there are a lot of toxins lingering in our water like fluoride and heavy metals. If a whole-house filter feels like too much, start with a countertop option like AquaTru or Clearly Filtered pitchers.
5. Ditch Fragrance: “Fragrance” is often a catch-all for thousands of hidden chemicals. Avoid it in candles, personal care, cleaning products, and household products. Look out for this ingredient on the label and opt for products scented with essential oils.
6. Choose Whole Foods Over Packaged: Whenever possible, opt for real, whole foods without a long ingredient list. It’s not about perfection, just awareness and small upgrades. Try to shop the grocery store perimeter as much as possible.
7. Take Inventory of What You Already Have: You don’t need to toss everything right away. Use up what you have, and replace it with non-toxic options as you go. Slow and steady wins here and will make a big difference!
5. How do you balance clean living with real life, especially when traveling or eating out?
For me, it’s all about balance. There’s nothing I love more than traveling and trying new restaurants and coffee shops. My mentality is: do the best you can at home, and enjoy yourself when you’re out. I bring a few essentials when I travel, like supplements, electrolytes, my favorite coffee or tea, and some snacks, but I stay flexible and focus on feeling good, not being perfect. Non-toxic living should support your lifestyle, not restrict it.
6. What are you most excited about launching or building in the next year?
